A Lot Can Change in 20 Years…
May 05, 2016…but your Scranton windows shouldn’t! In our continuing quest for quality and to show our loyal customers that their trust in Renewal by Andersen® was well-placed, in 2015, we pulled out 10 sets of double-hung window units that were installed on a Minnesota customer’s home back in 1995. Then we tested their durability. Here’s how they held up after 20 years of extremes in weather and temperature variations.
The incredible, but not surprising, results of the testing done on these original 20-year-old windows showed that our innovative Fibrex® material stands up to its reputation for strength and durability. After all that time, these windows open just as smoothly and easily as they did on the day there were installed, with no chipping, peeling or cracking, proving that they can survive the ravages of nature.
What Makes Fibrex® So Strong?
Fibrex stands apart from competitors because real wood fibers are used in the composite material. During the manufacturing process, these wood fibers are enveloped by a special polymer compound, which results in an innovative product that has the strength of wood and the low-maintenance features of vinyl. This polymer formulation provides Fibrex with excellent resistance to rot, decay, and the growth of fungus and mold. Low expansion rates mean there is no cracking or peeling. Fibrex is so strong, in fact, that our study confirmed that even after 20 years, Renewal by Andersen windows showed no evidence of cracking, chipping or peeling. How’s that for quality?
